Pia Cimini - Director, A.M.I., E.C.E., B.Ed. & B.A.
Pia Cimini founded Discovery Montessori School in September, 2001. Prior to establishing the school she received her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education Degrees from Simon Fraser University. This is where she first learned about Montessori Education, and was instantaneously drawn and connected to its amazing philosophy. Very soon after, she completed her Association International Montessori (A.M.I.) Primary Montessori Diploma and Early Childhood Education Certificate (E.C.E.) from the Montessori Training Centre of B.C. in 1997. She has two girls, Madeline and Emelia, and her hobbies include going on fun-filled adventures with her husband and children, cooking, decorating, restoring antiques, and playing hockey.
Linda Yeh - Manager, A.M.S. & E.C.E.
Linda Yeh has been at Discovery Montessori School for over 18 years. She takes great pride in her work, as both a teacher and supervisor. Interacting with and getting to know all of the children, families and staff has been one of her greatest joys. Prior to joining the Discovery Montessori team, she established and managed her own school in Taiwan for over 20 years. She holds her American Montessori Society (A.M.S.) Primary Montessori Diploma and E.C.E. certificate from Century College. Ms. Linda's hobbies include teaching and playing the piano, spending time with her children, Daniel, Charlie and Claire, and taking care of her cute dog, Dutch.
Vivian Lee - Montessori Teacher, A.M.I. , E.C.E. , B.A.
Vivian Lee has been teaching at Discovery Montessori School for over five years.
Ms. Vivian received her Master Degree in Linguistics from Simon Fraser University in 2009, and after her graduation, she went to Japan, and taught English and Mandarin Chinese to a variety of age groups for over two years. During her stay and her experience teaching, this is where she discovered her love of working with young children. After returning to Vancouver, Ms. Vivian earned her A.M.I. Primary Montessori Teaching Diploma and Early Childhood Education Certificate. She has also earned her Kids Yoga Teacher Certificate. During her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga, reading, traveling, listening to music, and spending time with her family.
Susie Shao - Montessori Teacher, A.M.I. & E.C.E.
Susie Shao joined Discovery Montessori School in 2013. She graduated from the Montessori Training Center of B.C. with an A.M.I. Primary Montessori diploma and E.C.E. certificate. She has been working with young children for over ten years. As a Montessori teacher, she looks forward to working with each child to develop his/her utmost potential and supporting the spontaneous unfolding of the child. Ms. Susie loves spending time with her lovely family and dog, Benben. She enjoys baking with her daughter, biking, arts and crafts, camping, skiing and yoga.
Penny Luo - Montessori Teaching Assistant & Out of School Care
Supervisor, A.M.I. Assistance Diploma & E.C.E.
Penny Luo has more than 14 years of experience working with all age groups of children, and has been teaching at Discovery Montessori since September, 2012. In 2002, she completed her training in Education from Massey University, in New Zealand. In 2015, Ms. Penny also completed her Montessori Teaching Assistant certificate at the Montessori Training Centre of B.C. Ms. Penny believes that children are motivated to learn when they are presented an enriched and stimulating environment, and allowing the children to be actively involved in the establishment of their classroom. Ms. Penny loves to traveling to different parts of the world with her family. She also enjoys gardening, photography, as well as art and crafts.
